Marlene Dileo 413-534-2020The Pride Report is a compilation of summaries, graphs and tables compiled from the PRIDE Survey Questionnaire. This is an anonymous questionnaire that is administered each year asking students about their alcohol and drug use.

The following is a summary of the Pride Report for Holyoke grades 6 - 12 for the year 2000 - 2001.
Cigarette Use
14.7 % 7th grade students said they smoked cigarettes within the past year. The PRIDE National Average was 22.2%.26.7 % 9th grade students said they smoked cigarettes within the pat year. The PRIDE National Average was 46.7%.
Alcohol Use
23.4% 7th grade students said they drank beer within the past year. The PRIDE National Average was 22.2%.39.9 % 9th grade students said they drank beer within the past year. The PRIDE National Average was 46.7%.
18.0 % 7th grade students reported getting very high or bombed when they drank beer.
25.6% 9th grade students reported getting very high or bombed when they drank beer.
Marijuana Use
8.1% 7th grade students said they smoked marijuana within the past year. The PRIDE National Average was 7.5%.32.0 % 9th grade students said they smoked marijuana within the past year. The PRIDE National Average was 24.9%.
73.1% 7th grade students reported getting very high or bombed when they smoked marijuana.
76.2% 9th grade students reported getting very high or bombed when they smoked marijuana.
4.1 % 7th grade students reported they smoked marijuana on weekends vs 0.7% who reported use during school.
23.7% 9th grade students reported they smoked marijuana on weekends Vs 1.9% who reported use during school.
Cocaine Use
1.5% 7th grade students said they used cocaine within the past year. The PRIDE National Average was 1.8%.2.7% 9th grade students said they used cocaine within the past year. The PRIDE National Average was 3.8%.
71.4% 7th grade students reported getting very high or bombed when they used cocaine.
80.0% 9th grade students reported getting very high or bombed when they used cocaine.
Hallucinogen Use (LSD)
1.5% 7th grade students said they used hallucinogens within the last year. The PRIDE National Average was 1.8%.3.1% 9th grade students said they used hallucinogens within the pat year. The PRIDE National Average was 5.2%.
71.4% 7th grade students reported getting very high or bombed when they used hallucinogens.
72.7% 9th grade students reported getting very high or bombed when they used hallucinogens.

1.6% 5th grade students said they drank liquor within the past year. The PRIDE National Average was 3.0%.
Inhalant Use
